Content: The race to the Florida Pro Masters" is nearing its end. The seasonal goal of many "Pro Shufflers" is to play in this prestigious tournament. It is a four-day event, "Points" are awarded for "Placements" in "State Pro Tournaments", and the "Top Eight" women point winners of the season, play a seven Match "Round Robin"(one "Match" with each of the others). A "Match" is three "75-Point Games" The woman winning the most "Games", wins "The Masters". The men do likewise.  Earl Ball, of "The Shuffler" web site, wrote the following article.  "Gus Bondi and Jerry Stannard won the State Championship at Hawthorne and while Gus was thrilled it really makes a big difference to Jerry who is trying to qualify for his 1st “Masters” appearance.  Jerry moved into 7th place with 32 points, a point ahead of 8th but John Brown and Paul Miller are setting at 27 points in a tie for 9th and you can’t count Jim Miller out.  Jim has 24 and this is the time of year Jim makes a big push, so who knows! In the Women’s division Nicole Huot teamed with Vivienne McMillan to with 2nd place making Vivienne an instant Pro; no easy feat considering they took out the team of Joan Cook and Ellen Davis in the quarters and Joan and Ellen are one-two in the point race.  I bet Vivienne was thrilled and so was Bill.  They only lost the final to the fine local team of Carol May and Sharon Upson.  In the process Nicole moved into the 8th and final spot. Look for a tight race to the finish with perennial “Masters” player Diana Morrison, Phyllis Beagel and relative new comer Pat Umbach only one point back.  By the way, speaking of new comers, Jeannie Andrews and Sherry Weise took 1st in Consolation moving Jeannie into a tie for 5th."
