Forgive my user name PoppaHoppa. I used to earn nicknames like Whirlybirds and dipsy for fancy moves, air time and deft passing but now most seem to call me OG or Pops until I score on them or block their shot. Respect never comes easy I guess.
It's hard being on the forefront of the Boomer age group in a largely sedentary society. I still love basketball and play somewhat competitively whenever I simply remember what I can do (-: I have seen some growth in 50 year olds playing but finding guys in their 60's who are still playing (well) is a problem in colorado. Started networking with some others now so we can play at the Masters Tourney in May and then Saint George so if you are like me - still active - hit me up. Love to chat. Where are all the ex D1 and pro players anymore. That was the bad part of leaving NYC. I played with many NBA players routinely and D1 players. Rumor is they turned intoi Beluga Whales. We all struggle with weight and injuries but again...feel inspired, get in touch.
