Hey! I just got here. Trainwater told me about this site. I once was a shuffler, but am now too old to play ~ ~ no physical stamina. However, I still know the game, and its great benefits. Tournament Play is a physical challenge. Winning play is a a mental, and a physical challenge. Losing is less physically challenging (you get to "sit out", and watch), but for those who want to be "The Best", losing is a mental challenge. You try to determine what went wrong. Usually you will determine that a lack of discipline caused your loss; you tried to do what you did not need to do, or failed to try to do what you should have done.
For the dedicated shuffler, losing creates sleepless nights.
I skied in competition when younger, and started playing shuffleboard when I was 54, and have found nothing as exciting, and challenging as Tournament Shuffleboard. I played for nearly thirty years, before life caught up with me.
I met many people that I would never met otherwise, and became good friends with many. I am sure that (now Trainwater has brought this site to shufflers attention) you will have the opportunity to learn that shuffleboard is not the simple, mindless game you think it is.
