Gardening, especially roses-- Decorating our home (craftsman style)-- caring for our "dog-child" 14-yr-old Max Cedric- he's an English Springer Spaniel. Actually, training for T&F takes up a lot of my time, and so my other interests have been somewhat on the back burner.

I cannot sit still long enough to read a book. So I listen to books on tape during the 40-minute drive to work, and home again. Right now I'm listening to "The Known World" by Edward P Jones.

Competing at '04 Nat'l Masters Meet in Illinois in the 100m & 200m sprints: still my PBs, and All-American times. ('05 was a good year too; in '06 I questioned my interest level, but did qualify for '07 Nat'l Sr Games in Lvlle; '07 out with stress fracture; '08 might have another stress fracture, so I'm missing the indoor season..)

Actually, more of a "beloved" moment: this is how I met my friend Catherine. We were lining up for the 200m dash at the Bluegrass State Games, on the Univ of KY track, which is a blue color. It was a hot July day, and Catherine, in the lane next to me, remarked: "just think: it's blue like cool water, and it's all downhill to the finish line."
OK, funniest is probably every time I come out of the starting blocks; I still don't have it yet!

Girls Track began at my high school (Sacred Heart in Salina KS) when I was a freshman, so I had 4 great years; then there was nothing at my college (KSU) until I was a senior ('73). Women's track was started and we had a great team. After college, I settled for jogging in the park, until I joined a group of friends in '02 to compete in T&F at the Bluegrass State Games. I've been hooked on Masters T&F since then. Also since then, have become much more interested in health and nutrition. Sure am learning a lot since the stress fracture last year.
