Back at the beginning of this year I resolved that I would compete in my first triathlon ... The Outdoorsman in Bryson City, NC. That's in just a very short 18 days away.
Training this year has been pretty spotty which has me a little nervous for the course ... 1 mile open water swim, 4 mile road run and 8 miles solo open canoe - 4 miles class II whitewater and 4 miles flatwater on the lake.
The main thing worrying me is the swimming. After over 20 years away from the pool I finally pulled a few laps last week ... and boy was that a wake-up call. But after 3 sessions in the past 6 days I'm adjusting to the breathing. That's what surprised me the most - recovering the rhythm and intensity of breathing in the water.
So - I'm not going to be pushing the training much here as Sept 27 approaches as much as I'm sorta hoping for an injury to provide a proper excuse to skip it again this year.
