It was a beautiful weekend in Chicago, and on Saturday my wife and I took our kids to the local tennis courts to knock the ball around for a while. Being a goof, I tried to lob a ball a zillion miles into the sky. The ball went far off to the right, bounced out of the fenced-in court and rolled into the street.
If you were driving by at that time, what would you have done? I'd like to think I'd stop my car, get out, pick up the ball and walk it back to the court and hand it to the players with a smile and a kind word. Truth is, I probably wouldn't have done that before Saturday.
But that's exactly what a driver did for us. It was really nice. And next time I see an opportunity to help out, I'll jump at it.
